Luís Andrade –When Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines 3 months ago, our role was to quickly assess the damage and launch a response. WFP brought food into the country at a pace few had ever seen before.By the end of November, we had already reached nearly 3 million people with food assistance. Now we’re focused on recovery and preparing communities against natural disasters in the future.
None of this would have been possible without our generous supporters. Thank you,

Luís Andrade –We have a lot to be thankful for this year, but we’re especially thankful for you. You’re part of a community that is now 1.2 million members strong – and growing.Working together, here’s a snapshot of what we’ve accomplished in 2013:
Whether you supported WFP by making a donation or spreading the word about our work, you have made a difference in someone’s life this year.In Somalia, more girls like Sarah Ismail are getting an education and a chance at a better future.

  • In the Philippines, watch as Maria recounts the moment water came up to her chest – and the moment that emergency food assistance arrived.

  • For Syrian refugees living in Lebanon, innovative electronic vouchers are helping fathers like Ali feed their families.

We hope we can continue to count on you in 2014 and beyond.

Wishing you a very happy and healthy holiday season,

Sarah

Dear Mr Andrade,

Thank you for your message to the Community Support Team (Community@wfp.org). Please find attached the WFP Official Bank Transfer Receipt with the donation’s details. We are sending the hard-copy by regular mail service.

We take this opportunity to thank you once again for supporting our efforts in building a world without hunger. We truly appreciate your effort in helping WFP and we’d  be glad to support you in the great projects you are pursuing. We’d be delighted to discuss the way forward mindful of the fact that our internal policies require a minimum donation of USD 25.000 per year to engage into a partnership in support of WFP’s projects.

Should you require any further help/info in future, please do not hesitate to contact us.

WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger. WFP is funded entirely by voluntary donations. You can make the difference: it costs only 20 eurocents to give a school meal to a child.

Luís Andrade —

As a WFP community member, you’re joined by more than one million other people around the world dedicated to helping solve hunger.

Families in the Philippines desperately need your help. Super Typhoon Haiyan has left 2.5 million people in need of emergency food assistance. To put that into perspective, WFP supported 2 million people with food assistance following the Haiti earthquake in 2010

Sources say this typhoon is the strongest storm to make landfall – ever. WFP is racing to respond with High Energy Biscuits and other basic food supplies.

As a trusted emergency donor, you’ll receive updates about WFP’s emergency operation and how you’ve helped bring life-saving food assistance to families and children in the Philippines.
Thank you,

Luís Andrade —

In the Philippines today, many families woke up to this:

Super Typhoon Haiyan has left much of the country in ruins. But high energy biscuits and other food assistance are en route as you read this to ensure families don’t go hungry.

Keep the support flowing with a donation today, and we’ll keep you updated on WFP’s response in the days to come.

Thank you for helping us take action when we’re needed the most.

Luís Andrade —
Last year, you were one of the first to join in our World Food Day celebration. We have no doubt this year will be any different. That’s why today we want to focus on one thing – it’s YOU.

We’re all in this together: the hungry, WFP, and YOU. Every day is World Food Day when children get the vital nutrition they need to learn and grow and mothers can choose what to feed their families. We couldn’t do it without YOU. It’s YOU against hunger.Thank you

 A daily meal

Luís Andrade —

Tonight, whether you gather around the table to share a family meal or grab a quick dinner on the run, take a minute to stop and think. Another family in another country is breaking bread, saying thanks and thinking of you — the person who gave them food when they had none.

For Syrian families, you’ve become a part of their story. You’re the difference between hunger and a daily meal.

You’ve been a part of our work in Syria from the start. Now, see where you fit in to the story.
We’ll be there as long as families need us. And we know you’ll be there by our side. Our emergency coordinator in Syria, Muhannad Hadi, summed up the heart of the situation to the New York Times, “We have reached a stage in Syria where some of the people, if they do not get food from the World Food Programme, they simply do not eat.” That says it all.Thank you for saying ‘enough’ and for taking action.Sarah

 Is the problem too big?

Luís Andrade –When we step back and look at the crisis surrounding Syria, it’s easy to think, “The problem is too big, there aren’t enough resources, we can’t help…” But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Our community joined together to ensure that more than 20,000 Syrian children in the Zaatari Refugee Camp in Jordan will continue to receive a nutritious, daily snack in school through the end of the year. It’s no small achievement.
A donation is a commitment to the future of Syria’s children. Whether it’s for one day or one year, the support we provide collectively will have a positive impact on their success.

Laughter and smiles can be a part of these children’s lives — providing the right nutrition and an education are the first steps toward a better tomorrow.

We’re making sure Syria’s youngest generation has the future they deserve.Thank you.Sarah

Luís Andrade(…) I’m Martin. Two weeks ago I visited a refugee camp in Democratic Republic of Congo where families are now fleeing from their homes due to extremely violent conflict. There I met Kanyere, a 19-year-old mother of two. She fled with her children — Richard and Rosalie — leaving her husband behind to protect their home. That was nearly four months ago. She’s had no news of him since.I was proud to see my WFP colleagues provide warm nutritious meals to families just like Kanyere’s. This holiday season I’m asking you to keep us going (…)

Thank you for giving as generously as you can,

Hope is not lost this holiday season

Luís Andrade

(…) Each day, hundreds of Somali families continue to cross the border into Ethiopia, fleeing conflict and drought. These families leave everything behind — jobs, communities and homes.

Many travel on foot for days. They have no other choice. Unsure when their next meal will be, families must push on in search of safety.

When everything else seems to be lost, families can find hope in a simple meal.

wfp.org/together

They arrive at the Dolo Ado refugee camp in Ethiopia hungry and exhausted. On a recent visit, I met with new refugees who were waiting under the hot sun, anxious to receive their first basket of food from WFP.

Just a few short months ago, Sahan Ibrahim was one of those people. Now, this 30-year-old mother works with WFP to help teach other mothers in the camp about basic health and nutrition for their children.

As a fellow Somali, she’s also there for moral support. Sahan understands first-hand the fear these women feel. But she knows that the emergency food assistance WFP is providing in Dolo Ado really a difference.

Abdi, one of many refugee children in Dolo Ado, was so malnourished when he arrived that he could hardly walk. A few weeks later, when Sahan and I went to visit him, he had a smile on his face and was dancing with his friends. This is the difference we can make — together.

Help us create more success stories this holiday season. Every donation of $15 will give life-saving food for one month.

With your generous support, we can ensure more children like Abdi dance again (…)
